When you decide to install a new system, several factors must be considered when deciding upon the location and the type of system you want to have.
We will schedule you for a "site and soil" with a professional engineer and the County Environmental Health. Our soil specialist will then visually assess the suitability of the soil for drainage, in addition to the tell-tale signs of a seasonally high water table. On occasion, multiple “perc tests” are required to find the best suitable location for a septic system on your property.
Conducting a Percolation Test
Once a location with suitable soil has been found, the next step is to conduct a percolation or “perc” test. This requires digging a series of holes and adequately conditioning the soil. These holes are then filled in with water, and the rate of drainage is measured.
